                                           A Critique on the song Hallelujah

" Hallelujah " Song by Alexandra Burke Lyrics by Elliot Horwood
Originally writen by Leonard Cohen, he wrote the song and recorded it in 1984; it first appears on his album "Various Positions."
There is a clear difference between the original and the current one, song by Alexandra, especially in verses two.and three.
Cohen (Hebrew : כֹּהֵן‎ kōhēn', means: "A Priest is a Jewish Surname of biblical origins Kohen). It is the most common Jewish surname, comparable to "Smith" in an English-language context.
L.Cohen Biography
The writer of Jewish descent understood some biblical stories and cleverly included it in song. I get the impression that Mr. Cohen was rebuked by a friend for blasphemy [ verse 2] and decided to answer him in song; contrasting David's and Sampson's fall to his.

Hallelujah [ original ]

Well I heard there was a secret chord.
That David played, and it please the Lord.
But you don't really care for music, do yu?
Well it goes like this.
The fourth, the fifth, and the minor fall, and the major lift.

You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to ya?
There's a blaze of light in every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool ya
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Covers of the song
Jeff Buckley covered the song in 1994 for his album, "Grace." It has also been covered by John Cale, Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright, Allison Crowe, Imogen Heap, Sheryl Crow, k.d. lang and many others.
Rufus Wainwright sang a version in the soundtrack of the movie "Shrek,"

Some 14 million people tuned into the X- Factor, almost a 1/5 of the population. to watch a performance of some quality.She may go on to be a great star.
The question is, what does Hallelujah mean?
And what is the song about ?
Let us look into it, you may find it quite interesting.
If all you hear in this song is Hallelujah, then the subliminal message is startling.

Hallelujah [ as song by Alex ]

Well I heard there was a secret chord. king saul { 1 Samuel 16:14-23 David would play the harp and the evil spirit would leave Saul }
That David played, and it please the Lord. King David
But you don't really care for music, do yu?
Well it goes like this.
The fourth, the fifth, and the minor fall, and the major lift. { the song writer has clearly just used 4th & 5th to imply musical connotations and adding minor and major to give it harmony.The Minor fall is his moral fall from grace see Bathsheba. The major lift he repents and is forgiven
2 Samuel 12:13-23; Psalm 17:8

The baffled King composing Hallelujah.praise

Hallelujah,Hallelujah
Hallelujah,Hallelujah,

Well your faith was strong but you needed proof,
You saw her bathing on the roof.Bathsheba
Her beauty and the moonlight, overthrew you.
She tied you to the kitchen chair. {this is just the writer's imaginations mixed between Sampson & David ,warp in some perversion maybe}
and she broke your throne,
and she cut your hair.Samson
and from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah,Hallelujah
Hallelujah,Hallelujah,

Well maybe there's a god above,{ why does he relate to The creator as god and not God }
but all I've ever learned from love,
was how to shoot somebody who'd out drew ya { Was the writer revealing his inner most hurt from his pass with this out of character violent act }
and it's not a cry that you should hear at night.
It's not someone who's see the light. born again
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah.{ saying that Hallelujah is chilly,frosty,broken out of order and defeated, sends out a different message }

Hallelujah,Hallelujah
Hallelujah,Hallelujah,

In the cold light of day, what we listen to is not what we really hear, was it intended by the writer ? it is extremely clever.
I would say he knew exactly what he wanted to say and cryptically did it with panache and cunning.
He is clearly against God and is hurling his sarcastic lyrics laughing at the wisdom of God for Hallelujah is the highest praise a man can give to God.
If we could find the secret chords of David we to will have an affect on people's lives.
If you say Hallelujah in many languages it is still pronounced Hallelujah.
If there was ever a word that brings a smile to my face is this word Hallelujah it was the very first word my baby girl said after dad whilst raising her hand before she could walk.
